この曲、くるりのなかでフェイバリットに挙げる方、多いんじゃないでしょうか。発売された当時はかなり衝撃がありました。激しいロックがウリだったバンドが、ピコピコ打ち込み系をシングルでおくってきたわけですから。

実際、くるりがメジャーになり始めたのはこのシングルあたりからだったと思います。ランキングに登場することも多くなり、自然と曲を耳にする人が増えたのでしょう。
歌詞にはたくさん心を打つ言葉が並べられています。切なくなる単語や、思わず同意できるような言葉の選び方に並べ方。

曲調は、希望を感じさせるものだと思います。しかし、メロディーは胸キュンもの(笑)。しかもそれを歌うヴォーカル岸田の声がまた実にいい。魂はあるのに、感情はないような声…文章では表現できませんが、とにかくイイ！

タイトル曲が明るいのに対し、暗いのがカップリング。夏の歌なのに、とにかく暗い。夏休み中ゲームして過ごしてるぐらいの暗さ(暗)。バンジョーとウッドベースの音色がまた渋くてたまりません。
初回限定で聴くことができる曲は、初期のくるりを彷彿とさせるロックナンバー。一聴の価値アリです。

この曲で「久留里」を知り、失礼「くるり」を知り
また以前からに気はしていたモノの、
どうしても「くるり」の世界に入っていけなかった人で
ノリノリ感が大好きな人にとっての入門の曲です。
