久々にあの熱いヴォーカルが聴ける、ファンには嬉しいニュー・アルバム。2年ぶり、全24公演という大がかりな全国ツアーの核を成す、注目度満点のナンバーばかりを全7曲収録している。

ソロとして活動を始めて、すでに13年目に入った氷室京介。2月に発売された『MELLOW』から間を置かずのリリースだ。今までの流れから変化があるわけではないのだが、今回も堂々たるスケール感のある作品だ。サウンドが完全に洋楽の響き。レコーディングはLAで、参加ミュージシャンもエンジニアも坂元達也を除いてはすべて現地の人だから、それも当然のことか。音数が多いんだか少ないんだか判然としない不思議なミックスが、荘厳感を生んでいるのだと思う。しかし、ほとんどの詞を担当している森雪之丞による、確信犯的で絶妙なチープな言葉選びが、氷室を“現役の若者”でいさせているような感じがする。もちろん、彼の独特な声および発声が、さらにそれを効果的にしているのだが。反町隆史が詞を書いた「ONE」は、氷室が反町に贈った曲で、いわゆるセルフ・カヴァーだ。初回限定版には「魂を抱いてくれ」「Believe」「Still The One」のレア・ミックスが8cmCDとして封入される。 (楡崎明生) --- 2000年11月号

前作Mellowあたりから、ヘヴィーさを増してきたヒムロックのトレンドの頂点に立つと思われるアルバムです。作詞も雪之丞さんに変わって、だいぶイメージが変わりました。歌に深みがございます。私はどちらかというとビート系よりMissing Pieceで見せてくれたような「新しい」タイプのヒムロックが好きなので、これはもう買って何回も繰り返し聞いて、Zeppライヴで完全燃焼しました。どの曲も素晴らしい出来です。そして何よりもスティーヴの存在が大きい。ヒムロックはここに至ってもまだカッコイイ。

全24本にも及ぶ、約２年ぶりのツアーに向けて作られた珠玉の全７曲を収録。１曲目の「Out Side Beauty」はテレ朝系「科捜研の女」主題歌に、2曲目の「Girls Be Glamorous」は本人出演の資生堂ピエヌのＣＭソングとして起用されました。７曲目「ONE」は反町隆史に楽曲提供をしたセルフカヴァー曲です。今までに見られなかったタイプの曲が収録されており、氷室京介の新境地を味わうことができる一枚です。

ビートで感じさせる焦燥感、バラードで聴かせる情緒感、シャッフルで躍らせる臨場感。氷室京介の放つサウンドにはロックに不可欠な要素のすべてがある。唯一無二のボーカリゼーションの風格、そして不変かつ永遠のSPIRITに満ち溢れるソロ13作目の今作。
