決して一般受けする内容ではない。舞台劇的な印象があるのに、キャラクターのアップなどで表現されたカットも多く、背景や奥行きなども感じさせる映像で、映画的でもある。脚本も押井さんなので、彼独自の世界が築かれていて、ギャグのセンスや不条理な展開など、押井ワールドが好きな人には勧められる。が、そうでない一般の人には、まったく訳の分からない作品と映るに違いない。個人的には大好きな作品なので、星５つにしてしまいましたが、押井守に全く興味が無い人にはお勧めしません。

この作品は押井守監督の「劇場版パトレイバー」公開と同じぐらい
の時期に創られました。
そして「劇パト」に負けないくらい大好きです。

まず「色彩」がいい！「音楽」がいい！
そして「すべて」いいです。

平凡を絵にかいたような「核家族」四方田家のマンションに
近未来から先祖に会いにきたという「四方田麿子」という名の
少女が登場し、それを受け入れた四方田家が崩壊していく！

ひたすら続く長いセリフ、豪快な舞台設定、遊び心あふれる「劇中歌」。
「南家こうじ」さんのオープニングも芸術的でいいです。
「鳥」「犬」「飛行船」「立ち食いソバ」。
そして終盤の意外な真実（僕も初めは気づきませんでした）

劇的なラストシーン。
登場人物も少なく、これといったアクションもないのですが
押井流「ＳＦホームドラマ」といったらいいのかな？？

賛否分かれるでしょうけどこの「毒っぽさ」が面白いですよ！

アニメーションなのに小劇場の舞台を思わせる環境下で、
　あくの強いキャラが、
　　あくの強い台詞を、
　　　あくの強い声優で演じる。
言葉を積み重ねることによって生まれる、
　混乱、
　　悲劇、
　　　おかしみ、
　　　　呆然。
破綻し続けながらも次回へと続く物語。
唐突に訪れる劇的なる終幕。

オシイ作品を見る至福のひとときが間違いなくここにありまする。
