メルヘンチックでどこか懐かしい曲が詰まっている。
坂本真綾の「春~冬のペタル」「すすむとき」「もどるとき」の６曲は３０秒~一分弱と短いがどれも個性が立っており、サントラの雰囲気ともあっている。
Chris Mosdellの歌う「Dreams in a pie」もお薦め。

菅野よう子、ブランドとして定着している感はあるが、そんな事は関係なく良いものは良い。このサントラは奇跡的なコラボレーションではないかと私は思う。　何故なら普段彼女が使うスタイルはオーケストラであったり、ビッグバンドやロックバンドだったりで、今回のように「カメラータ（室内音楽）」規模のものは初めてだし、またそれが見事にゲームの世界観と共存して成り立っているからだと思う。もちろんＰＣ上でのエフェクトの追加や、録音した弦楽器や木管の音源にオーバーダブしてるのも有るが、それも含めて全てが完璧にナップルテールの空気なのである。ゲームをプレイした人は「懐かしい」とも感じるだろうが、「ああ、この曲！」と、聴きこむほどに新鮮な記憶としてよみがえってくるし、純粋音楽としても楽しめてしまう。ドリームキャストと言う不遇のハードゆえに、今後このような形態のゲーム＆ＢＧ音楽と言うのはありえないかもしれない。　ＮＭＢＣ（ﾅｲﾄﾒｱ･ﾋﾞﾌｫｱ･ｸﾘｽﾏｽ）調の「The man in the hole」等、オドロオドロしいのもあるが、元々妖精も怪獣も同じようなものなので、どっちも好きだね。編集の秀逸さも強調しておきたい。本来ループ再生されるゲームＢＧＭではあるが、ＣＤ製作において妥協せず、一番良い所で嫌味無くリバーヴを掛けて切ったり、ちゃんとした切れ目で終わるようにしてあったり、フェードアウトが少ないのは特筆すべきだと思う。高いけど、その勝ちは十分に有るぞ！

菅野よう子に作れない曲はないらしい。この怪獣図鑑、そして妖精図鑑ともに、聴かずにとばす曲など一曲も無い。ゲームのサントラとかそういう事は一切気にすることなく、ゲームをやったことがなくても、菅野よう子や坂本真綾のことを知らなくても楽しめるはず。
しかしNapple Taleのサントラとして聴く場合、怪獣図鑑と妖精図鑑の二枚を合わせても全曲収録ではないのは大いに不満な点だと思う。ジャケットもNapple Taleとは全く関係のないイラストだし、なによりゲーム中屈指の名曲である｢Folly Fall｣と｢ハラぺーニョ｣が収録されてないのは致命的な気が。
