ウォン・カーウァイが初めてプロデュースを手がけたエリック・コット監督による97年の作品。その恋愛ドラマ風なタイトルとは大違い、「夢遊病の少女と精神病の男」だの、「結婚式の直前に逃げ出した過去を持つ男と10年後に偶然彼の居場所をつきとめた女」だのを主人公にする風変わりなオムニバス式の物語。撮影クリストファー・ドイル得意の手持ちカメラを通して、エネルギッシュにつづられていく。
   何しろ普通でないキャラクターばかり出てくるのがおかしかったり、また監督自身全編に顔を出して進行中の映画を解説したり、テロップや音楽で茶々を入れたりするメタフィクショナルな仕掛けが妙に凝っているのにも笑ってしまう。主演の金城 武のほか、俳優陣ではリー・ウェイウェイの可憐な魅力が印象的。（武内 誠）

二話オムニバス。
実験的というかはちゃめちゃな作りで戸惑う。
しかし、ユーモアの中にもほろりとさせられる良い話。
何よりも、洒落ている。大好き。
最後に監督が涙ながらに映画への愛を語る。
どこまで本気？

《精神病の男と夢遊病の少女の話》、《ヤッピンとカレンの恋の後始末》と名付けられた初恋をテーマにした２つの恋物語。その２つのタイトルからも何となくその面白さは伝わると思います。
金城武は１つ目の精神病の男の役。登場人物がみんな素直でかわいい。その彼らが織り成す恋物語はもっとかわいい。監督兼俳優のエリックコットが映画の中で最もよくできたと自負しているシーンには一見の価値あり！個人的には金城がギターを弾いているシーンがお気に入り。とても心温まる作品です。

見れば見るほど、味がでる作品だとおもいました。
最初みたときは、話についていくのがやっとだった
けど、２回目を見たときから金城さんの魅力にはま
りました。みょうな日本語を使う高橋さん、精神病
の青年、やさしくてホロリとました。
２話のカレンもよかった、写真を見ながら泣くシーン
は、ホロットしました。
