2004年のウィーン･フィルの日本公演でラフマニノフのピアノ･コンチェルト3番をテレビで見て感激し、早速申し込みました。
演奏は1990年の演奏でテレビで見た演奏より14年前の演奏で若々しいけれど、天才肌の超絶技法は当時からすばらしく、やはりブロンフマンはすごいということを実感しました。
日本公演のほうはライブなのでCDよりも少し迫力があり、また年齢を重ねて円熟味もあったのでかなということで、★4つ。

何とも安定感のある地に足の着いた演奏でる。テクニックもすばらしく難曲をものともせず
弾ききっている。オケとのバランスもよくいささかのぶれも無い一体感に安心して聞き入る
ことができる。ラフマニノフの３番は構成が複雑で生半可なテクニックや解釈ではこの曲を
かえって退屈なものにしてしまう。映画シャインで有名になったとはいえ２番に比較して
ポピュラーでないのはそういったところも影響していると思う。
ホロヴィッツ、特に１９７８年のオーマンディとの演奏はその情感と起伏のある表現力で
心に突き刺さり、極限に追い込まれたぎりぎりのバランスを表現するこの曲の一つの
究極的な解釈であるのに対し、ブロンフマンは圧倒的、現代的なテクニックをベースに
豊かな広がりのある世界を演出し、新たな解釈を予感させられる。演奏の完成度、表現の
深みではホロヴィッツに劣るが、前出の演奏時、ホロヴィッツは７０歳を過ぎている。
この先のブロンフマンの進化に注目したい。

ラフマ３番はホロヴィッツに止めをさす、と思ってましたが、
最近某動画サイトでブロンフマンが来日したときのラフマ３の
演奏をみました（ゲルギエフ＆ウィーンフィル）。

驚愕でした・・・。ただうまいわけだけでも、迫力があるだけでもない、
本当にひさしぶぶりに鳥肌がたつ魂をゆさぶる演奏でした。
（カツァリスのショパン以来かなぁ・・・いやそれ以上）
アンコールでのスカルラティやショパンも素晴らしかった。
誰だ？このピアニストは？というわけで本盤を購入。
間違いなく歴史に残るピアニストになるでしょう（多分）。
