タイトル通り{悪魔}をテーマにしたオカルト的(?)アルバム。凝りに凝った選曲はもちろん、当意即妙のアンサンブルがあちこちで聴け、二人の創意と遊び心を十分に楽しめるナイスな一枚。

オカルト・アルバムといってもいい。よくもまあこれだけオカルトチックなものばかり集めたものだ。悪魔やら亡霊やら、魔女、妖精とその種の作品(しかも著名作曲家ばかり)を13曲収録。演奏がそれに輪をかけて“悪魔的”。火花が飛ぶような超絶テク、そして強烈な誘引力を持つ眩惑的な歌いまわし。このシャハムの才気にただただ脱帽。フェルドマンのこれまた何かに憑かれたごとき超人的ピアニズムと相まって、演奏には鬼気迫るものを感ずる。“食わせ方”によっては秀逸なアルバムになる見本である。 (斎藤弘美) --- 2000年10月号
