主人公の男は悪魔メフィストフィリスを呼び出し、彼をつうじて大魔王ルシファーと取引きをする。期限付きで、この地上のあらゆる快楽を味わいつくすことを許してもらい、最後にはその代償として自分の魂を悪魔に売り渡すというゲーテの著書「ファウストス」がもとになっている作品。ヤン・シュワンクマイエル監督によって、この本筋を彼の作品らしく演出している。輪廻転生を思わせるかのようなラストは、とても印象的！

兎に角シュール！
面白い、面白くない等の理屈ではなく、気が付いたら惹かれていた作品。
一度みたらもう止められない。
この不可解な世界に、貴殿も浸ってみて下さい。

ゲーテの神的領域戯曲「ファウスト」を人形劇で擬似体験出来る極上の娯楽作。…なんか完璧な作りで観入ってると人形の動きが人形じゃないみたいに見えてきますね不思議なことに。妙な魅力がある映画です。原作と話の筋も同じなのでかなり堪能できます。「ファウスト」初心者の方はまずこれを。

★五つ。
