巷間の評判はどうであれ、私はこのアルバムが好きだ。なぜなら、オールディーズを取り上げていることで、ブライアンの編曲の妙味を味わえるからだ。復帰したてという事も手伝って、ブライアンの音楽のエッセンスを垣間見る感がある。「２０／２０」以降、これだけブライアン色を感じられたアルバムがあっただろうか？　またオリジナルでは、ブライアンの復調が著しく感じられる。「ザット・セイム・ソング」なんてすごく新鮮だし、「バック・ホーム」は次のアルバム「ラヴ・ユー」に繋がるサウンドだ。これは思いもかけないプレゼントである。

７６年発表。スタジオ・アルバムとしては前作「オランダ」より３年半ぶりとなる作品。ブライアン・ウィルソンが全面復帰してオリジナル・メンバー５人が１１年ぶりに復活したアルバム。当初はオールディーズのみの作品として予定されており、たくさんのカヴァー曲が吹き込まれたが、結果としてそれらのほとんどは削られて、オールディーズとオリジナル曲が半々くらいとなった。コンセプトを考えると中途半端なイメージを持つが、オリジナル曲の出来がすこぶる良く、全体のバランスなども良くてビーチ・ボーイズり代表的なアルバムの一つと言える出来だと思う。カヴァーの１．はチャック・ベリーの有名曲、そして４．と１５．などフィル・スペクター絡みの曲の出来が素晴しい。オリジナルの方は傑出した曲が多く、ブライアンとマイクの共作２．やマイク単独のバラードの５．など隠れた名曲が満載！！カヴァー・アルバムという認識は間違いです。
