テクノというとちょっと大げさだけど、前作の「エスケイプ」なんかよりずっとシンセサイザーの音が目立って、当時としては未来的な感じになってきた作品。これもジョナサン・ケインの影響なのでしょうか。 美しいバラード、時への誓い（Faithfully）は絶品です。

爽やかなロックと美しいバラード、Journeyはそんなイメージでした、当時。しかし、このアルバムの１曲目の「Separate Ways」はややHeavyな曲です。全体としてはHeavyナンバーとバラード(ピアノが美しい)で構成されたバランスのよい作品です。Journey史上いちばん重いアルバムかもしれません。

いろいろ意見は分かれるところかと思いますが、やはりジャーニーといえばこれでしょ。アナログで言うＡ面は完璧、ビューティフル、ブラボー、エクセレント、エキサイティング、感動、感涙、等々いくら賛辞を並べてもきりが無いくらいスバらしいです。スティーブ・ペリーのヴォーカルもこのときがピークだったんじゃないかな。
