ファーストアルバムがベストであるというアーティストは多いが、このファーストアルバムも（ソロとしての）非常に素晴らしいできである。

ムーンライダースのギタリスト白井良明の全面的なサポートによる本作品は、やはりどうしてもギターが前面にでたアレンジである。楽曲のできが非常によく、特に松尾のメロディーメイカーとしての才能をいかんなく発揮したものとなった。

どこかで聞いたような感じがするのだが、実は彼と同じようなスタイル・メロディーの曲はほとんど聞いたことがなく、オリジナリティーも持った傑出した人である。

最近あまり話題にあがらないが、再度このアルバムのような素晴らしいできのものを作って欲しいものだ。

松尾や杉真理、須藤薫や山下達郎や愛奴などは中学時代に版が擦りきれるほど聴いた。この頃のロックは“声”も楽器の一部だという認識が非常に強かったという事がこのアルバムを聴くとよく分かる。詞もシンプルでいいなぁー。個人的な好みを言わしてもらえば、ロックってのはやっぱシンプルなのがいいと思う。本作はかなり作りこまれているが、本質的な部分はシンプルだと思う。80年代の音楽シーンはこーいったロックもあり、傍らではスターリンやフリクションなどのパンクもあり、YMOやプラスティックスなどのテクノもありと・・・いい意味で混沌としてたなぁーと思う今日この頃であった。

「日本ポップス界の金のシャチホコ」（ｂｙ某音楽評論家H）といえば杉真理と、この松尾清憲の二人をいうらしい。その松尾清憲の1st AlbumがSIDE EFFECTS ~恋の副作用~です。とにかくポップスの王道！という曲ばかりで、ポップス好きの人にはたまらない作品です。アレンジとプロデュースはmoonridersの白井良明なので、かなりアグレッシブなアレンジなのですが、ポップスの公式をギリギリのところではずさないのが、松尾清憲の作曲センスというか、ポップスへのあふれる愛情を感じさせます。とにかくポップでメロウでゴージャスです。１曲目の「愛しのロージー」はCMに使われていました。何のCMだったかは思い出せませんが。お勧めの曲は前述の１曲目と「エスケイプドライブ」です。特に「エスケイプドライブ」はポップスの黄金率です。この作品を発表した時点で、松尾清憲は結構年がいってたという話なので、現在は何歳になっているのでしょうか？
