前作の重いコンセプト的なアルバムから一転、少し悲しくてお洒落で華やかな印象をうけるアルバム。このジャケットはイエモンのアルバムの中で１番好きです。１曲目の教会で流れてくるような美しい曲は、元ロキシーミュージック、アンビエントの大御所ブライアン・イーノに影響をうけた曲で、後半一気に盛り上がってそのまま『マリーにくちづけ』へとなだれこむ構成はお見事。シングルでも発売された『嘆くなり我が夜のファンタジー』は数あるイエモンの曲なかでもベスト５に入る曲です。宗教チックな歌詞と、コーラスを３重にのせたサビ、３本重ねたギターソロの素晴らしさ、はねるリズム隊etc、あげたらキリがありません。カップリング曲も素晴らしく、とてもいいアルバムだと思います。ギターの菊池さん、彼を見るたびジミーペイジを思い出してしまうのですが、本当にいいギタリストだと思います。彼のギターソロには世界観があります。ソロをめちゃくちゃにひくギタリストは多いですが、彼のギターは情感豊かに世界を構築していき、流れも見事です。特に争いの街のギターソロは泣けます。最後にフェイドアウトしていくのはもったいないぐらいです。基本的には洋楽が好きですが、イエローモンキーは日本で１番好きなロック・バンドです。

『熱帯夜』聴きたさに買いました。
過去、イエモンさんのファンクラブに入っていたのですが
ファンクラブ仲間の間で、かなり人気があった曲でした。
妖艶で切ない歌詞と、格好良いけど懐かしさもあるメロディに
あっけなくメロメロにされてしまいました。

１曲目『SMILE』で、四次元空間からのメッセージに
ロシア語を使うあたりも粋だと思いました。
絶望に襲われても、美しい笑顔を忘れずに。
華やかなだけでない、奥深いものを感じられました。

『熱帯夜』『SMILE』のみならず、色んな“色”を
感じさせる曲が詰まっているような気がします。
感じる“色”は、聴く人それぞれ違うと思いますので
ぜひ聴いて感じて頂きたいです。

キャッチーな2や8、テクノな4、ロックな10、3rdを思い出させるバラードな6、ソウルフルな11など、シングル曲以外にもバラエティに富んだアルバムです。イエモンのアルバムは3rdまでとこのアルバム以降で彼らの音楽性に線を引くことが出来ると思いますが、シングル曲から聞き始めた方にはオススメのアルバムです。あと、イエモンのアルバムの中で一番ジャケがいかしてます。
