鬼束ちひろのCDは、この曲を聴いて以来すべて買っていますが、やはりこの曲の鮮烈さは別格です。若い人の鋭利な感性で作られた歌なのでしょうが、すでにさまざまな社会経験をしている大人が聴いても、自分のさまざまなトラウマ的体験が忘却の奥底から沸いてきて、泣けてしまうのです。とりあえずかさぶたで塞いで忘れたことにしていた感覚が揺さぶられて泣ける、それが同時に癒しにさえなる、そんな歌があるということに、驚異を感じました。真の詩とは、自分の私的な嘆きを超越して、普遍へと届くもの。この歌にはそんな普遍の力を感じます。だから負の内容を持った歌なのに、暗さよりも凛とした美を感じるのですね。

鬼束のうたは、世間では詞の闇が特徴的なところですが、よく考えたらそれより先にどの曲も音楽として優れているのが特徴です。

つまり、どれも音楽として、メロディとして、うたごえとしてまず充分に魅力的なんですね。だから、どんなに歌手が自分の内的なものを表現していても、独善に陥らず音楽としてポピュラリティを獲得しているのです。これが素晴らしい。

この「月光」には思春期に初めて思い始める、世界と自分との距離や存在意義について考える主人公がいます。リスナーの私たちにも昔経験のあるような抽象世界です。やはり、何度もいいますがこんな抽象さでポピュラリティを獲得してしまうチカラが素晴らしい。

そしてこれから鬼束を見る目というのは、トム・ヨークが徳永英明が、こうした闇と戦い次々と名盤を生み出してきた前例と比較し、いかに彼女が詞中でその成長を魅せられるか、世界の止揚を図れるか、についても追って注目してゆくべきことでしょう。

特にこの『月光』こそその試金石になるはず。この矛盾だらけの世界に落とされ、葛藤した意味は何に繋がってゆくのか、何を欲するところに使命があるのか。ここから先、鬼束がどんな新しい視野を獲得してゆくかの基準になる歌です。彼女がこんな曲を生んだその根本と、枝である曲の関係。そういうものに注目できる歌手はあまりいませんね。

RADIOHEAD､中島みゆき、徳永英明、イエローモンキー、、、そして鬼束ちひろ。心の闇をうたう音楽にこそ、大衆雑誌のようなアイドルを追う視線ではなく、ジャーナリズムが必要になってゆくでしょう。

正真正銘、本物のアーティスト"鬼束ちひろ"の誕生と、名曲と名高い
「月光」ですが、注目していただきたいのは意外と気にならない（？）
2曲目の「Arrow of Pain」です。

鬼束さんの素敵でいて綺麗な歌声もさることながら、愛しい人を想い
続けていても叶わなかった悲哀を感じさせつつ、なおかつ力強くて
包まれていくようなメロディラインに沿った詞、羽毛田さんの素晴ら
しい曲のアレンジメントで構成されています。

音楽としての既成概念の枠を超えている真の音楽であり、鬼束さんの
暖かなメッセージとともに、「月光」と遜色ない名曲だと思います。

「Arrow of Pain」は、2ndアルバム「This Armor」にも収録されて
いるのですが、もし余力があるのならば、アルバムのほうで聴くの
ではなく、シングルの「月光」に続けて「Allow of Pain」を聴いて
みてください。きっといま以上に鬼束さんが素敵だと思えますよ。
