　ロマンティック・バレエの名作コッペリアを、キーロフ・バレエが新たな演出で上演したものです。そのためオリジナルとはステップや曲順も異なります。舞台や衣装もカラフルで、農村劇なのに華やかで都会的です。オープニングが、スワルニダとフランツのキスシーンから始まることや、コッペリウスの家がマッド・サイエンティストの研究所のようになっているのも、現代風の演出のためだと思います（それになぜか、コッペリアはとてもキュートです！）。また、撮影されたのが新しいためか、ロシアバレエの映像としては非常に綺麗で、さらに華やかに見えます。

　しかし、そのためコッペリアの原作が持つおどろおどろしい雰囲気は無く、人物描写、特にコッペリウスは、薄っぺらいものとなっています。個人的にはプティ版の演出の方が、このバレエの現代的解釈として正しいと思います。
　ただ、お気楽に楽しく可愛いバレエを鑑賞したいのならば、オススメの一本です。
