　坂本龍一さん、半野喜弘さんに竹村延和さんというとてつもなく豪華な面子が名を連ねた99年の作品。アンビエント、現代音楽、トイミュージックなどの要素がふんだんに散りばめられた楽曲にハイブリッドな音質、そして胸をすくような透明感のある歌声。作品全体が幻想的且つ瞑想的とも言える美しい音で溢れています。本作を聴いてしまうと、やはりまた音楽活動もして欲しいなと思わずにはいられません。

坂本龍一とのコンビの3作目(1999年作)。

本作には、半野喜弘と竹村延和も作曲陣として参加し、より通好みのエレクトロニカ仕立てのサウンドになっている。逆に言えば、前作にまであったクールなテクノポップ風な分かりやすさは減退したということであり、これまでの彼女のアルバムの中で、最も取っ付きにくいアルバムにはなっている。またどこか架空のサウンドトラックのような趣を持った作品であり、流れる日常の儚さを描いた映画、まさにタイトルの「私生活」というのがぴったりといった感じだ。アルバム中、中谷美紀の会話も効果的に使用され、女優としての能力をうまく作品に取り入れられていると思う。女優として確固とした立ち位置を持ちながら、ここまで実験的なアルバムを作りあげたことは、なかなかセンセーショナルなことだと思う。その反面、前作にまであったフックの良さとメロディ志向が薄れてしまったのは、仕方ないことではあるが、少し残念。アルバム中、ハイライトといえるのが「クロニックラヴ」しかないのは、やはり淋しさを感じる。

「promise」から「all this time」への流れが尋常じゃなく美しいです。
些事は全部投げ捨てて陶酔してしまいたくなります。

この２曲のためだけに購入しても損はしないというくらい。
エレクトロニカの一部以外では
こういう耽美的な音作りは今の日本ではなかなか聴けないと思います…売れないから（苦笑）
