ワーナーからの２作品は
「地味」「ＨＣ路線」などとよく言われていますが
たしかに彼らのアルバムの中では硬質であり、
分かりやすくポップな派手さは薄いかもしれません。

しかし「ファンク」という言葉に拘りに拘った、
重たいビートにうねるベースライン、
マニアックなトラックメイキング、
そして韻だけでなく、いつもの独特の間と
フロウを最大限に活かした言葉を紡ぎ上げていくＭＣ２人。
実は転換期でもスタイルチェンジでもなく、
自分達のしてきた事の「原点」を見つめなおした結果が
このアルバムなのではないでしょうか。
以前より明らかに地に根を張った音作りが
純粋にかっこよく、またスチャダラパーらしさも失われていない。

ここ最近の日本語ＨＩＰＨＯＰから
ＨＩＰＨＯＰが好きになったような人たちに
スチャダラパーを薦める際、
私はまずワーナーの２作品から薦めています。
「今夜はブギーバッグ」くらいのイメージしか持ってなかった人々の
考えを改めさせるだけの力が、このアルバムにはあります。

最近じゃBATHING APEのNIGOのアルバムなんかにも参加してたSDP。

趣味丸出しでマニアっぷりを発揮し続けるそのサウンドと自然体でガナリたてないMCの二つを持ち合わせる希有なスタンスは"大作戦"から一貫したものでしたが、ここにきてそのキレ具合が一気に加味された模様です。業界戦略とはかけ離れ自由に活動できるようになったからか、いわゆるベテランの域に突入したからか、その真相は分かりませんが。けどそのリリックも大人びた印象。そして何よりシンコでしょう。例えばライムスターのREMIXで聴かれたようなファンキーな上ネタ+重たいビートという音作りはこの辺りで確立されたようです。ロボ宙やAFRAといった盟友に手を貸すのもいいですが、個人的には早く彼らの新作が聴きたいといったところです。
