僕は羅針盤が好きだ。
このバンドの根底にあるのは優しさで、シンプルな歌詞や音から伝わってくるのは優しさだから。
たぶん、この音はその人に根付く。
そして、いつまでも変わらない響きを伝えてくれる。
羅針盤の伝える音はいつまでも変わらないで優しさを伝えてくれるんじゃないかな。

僕は、ひとりでも多くの人が、この優しさに触れてくれることを願う。

まず「せいか」というタイトルを見ても何のことかわからない。「聖歌」「盛夏」「生家」・・・・・。山本精一のことなら「製菓」だってありえる。いや、そもそも意味などないのかもしれない。などと思いながらＣＤを再生させるその時点で、実はもうこのアルバムが最高だという確信に近いようなものを得ているのはなぜだろう。
羅針盤のうたのすばらしさは山本精一のことば選びに尽きる。彼が影響を受けてきたであろうポピュラーミュージックの大御所達のうたに耳を傾けてみよう。羅針盤というバンドは、彼らが流した血と汗と涙のせいかであることに気づくはずである。
