   1983年のムーンレコード移籍後、レーベル在籍12年目にして初めてリリースされた山下達郎のベストアルバム（1995年発表）。
   JR東海のキャンペーンソングとして知られるクリスマスの定番ナンバー<13>、別れてしまった恋人を取り戻したいと願う感動的なバラード<3>など、山下達郎を代表する珠玉のヒットナンバーに加え、雨の日の悲しい恋物語を描いた1983年のシングル<2>（オリジナルアルバムには未収録）、南の島のまぶしい景色を歌った1987年のヒットチューン<7>と、初CD化ナンバーも2曲収録。シュガー・ベイブ時代の「パレード」（1976年のアルバム『ナイアガラ・トライアングル Vol.1』収録）は、大瀧詠一のリミックスによるニューヴァージョン<16>で収められている。（武村貴世子）

　83年から95年までのムーンレーベルのベスト。シングルをメインに収録されている。ここでも、「グレイテスト・ヒッツ」同様にいろいろと施されている。「踊ろよ、フィッシュ」はシングルとは別ミックス。「おやすみロージー」も新たにミックスされている。
　更に嬉しいのは長らく、CDにならなかった「スプリンクラー」がここでようやく収録されている。
　「さよなら夏の日」「ゲット・バックインラブ」「アトムの子」「クリスマスイブ」と言った名曲ももちろん収録されている上、「ジャングル・スウイング」といった渋い曲も入っています。
　シングルではないが、「蒼氓(そうぼう)」が収録。名バラード曲です。サザンの桑田夫妻、更に竹内まりやが「La lalala~♪」で唄ってます。この曲で何度、励まされたことか。。そして、涙したことか。。数え切れないです。

このアルバムに収められた名曲群を聴いていると、飽くなき探究心を持ち、細部までこだわりながら音楽を作り続ける山下達郎の真摯な姿勢が非常によくわかります。
彼のオリジナルアルバムのタイトルにもありますが、まさに「アルチザン(職人)」といった感じです。
高校の文化祭で短編フィルムを撮ることとなり、クラスのみんなの日常風景を淡々と写したもののバックに「風の回廊」、「さよなら夏の日」等、このアルバムの楽曲を重ねたものを作ったら、かなりはまったことを今でも思い出します。

毎年夏になると必ず聞きたくなるアルバム。おそらくこれからも夏に限らず聞き続けるだろう。特に一人で長距離ドライブする時に聞きたくなるアルバムです。あまりに聞き込みすぎてこのアルバム自体にある種のストーリーが付着してしまった。特に終盤の蒼氓はなんとも心に響く名曲である・・自信を持ってオススメの一枚です。
