モーツァルトのレクイエムを、カラヤン指揮で聴き慣れていた自分にとって、アーノンクールの指揮によるこの一枚は　イスから転げ落ちそうなほど「びっくり」の感触だった。まるで解釈がちがう。 カラヤンが過不足なくきれいにまとまってるのに対して アーノンクールはでこぼこしていて、重い。

まだまだクラシック初心者のわたしにとって、「同じ曲は必ず最低でも2枚は違う指揮者で聴こう、ひとつの解釈でアタマが凝り固まらないように」、と決めた誓いの一枚である。

　驚くべき演奏である。モーツァルトのレクイエムに、こんな解釈が有るとは、正直に言って、夢想だにして居なかった。この曲についての目を開かされる様な演奏である。冒頭がやや速めで、初めて聴いた時には、正直に言って、この冒頭箇所に、少々違和感を感じた。だが、そんな事は、すぐにどうでも良く成った。続くキリエから、もう全く独自の世界である。合唱を中心に、人間の声その物の美しさをオーケストラよりも前面に押し出す、他の指揮者による演奏とは全く違ふ世界が展開する。−−まるで、ルネッサンス時代の音楽を聴いて居る様な錯覚を覚えた。−−キリエの後も、全曲を通じて、人間の声その物の美しさを前面に立てた演奏が貫かれて居る。西洋音楽の原点に立ち返った様な、驚くべきモーツァルトのレクイエムである。

この曲はカール・ベーム指揮ウィーンフィルの歴史的名盤があり、
今もそれを超越したものはありません。
アーノンクールのこの盤は、硬い響きになっていて残念です。
やはり、ヴェルディの「レクイエム」のように激しいものと違い、
モツレクには厳かさが無いとだめだと思います。
