ロストロポービッチはこの協奏曲を何回も録音している。
カラヤンやジュリーニとも組んだこともあるが、それらはかなりの感情移入をして自由に弾いたものだった。
それらに比べて、この録音はなんて自然なんだろうか。
心から勢いよく涌き出てくる作曲家からのメッセージや曲想をすばらしい技巧によって難なく自然にあますところなく表現している。

この録音の後、ロストロポービッチはエラートとの間で今後この曲に関して録音は行わないと契約したといわれている。
それほど素晴らしい出来の演奏だ。
小沢も、しっかり自己主張しながらボストンのいいところを引き出して独奏者の好演に華を添えている。

ロストロポーヴィチが、これをもって最後のレコーディングにすると決めたことは、このＣＤを買った人には容易に理解できるだろう。
他の演奏と比べれば、この演奏が秀でていることは、火を見るより明らかである。

一つ注意していただきたいのは、このＣＤを買うのは、いろいろなＣＤを聴いてからにしたほうがいいだろう。
実は、私が最初に聞いたドヴォルザークのチェロコンは、このＣＤだった。
その後、他にもいろいろ聴いたほうがいいだろうと思い、名演といわれているものをいろいろ買った。
ところが、他の演奏はどれも、とげとげしく、粗く、作為に満ちていて、好きになれないでいる。
このＣＤ以外、２回以上ＣＤプレーヤーのトレイに乗ったドヴォルザークのチェロコンはない。
それほど、この演奏は群を抜いてすばらしい。

ロストロポーヴィチが、チェロコンの花ともいえるこの曲を、もう録音しないとサインしたことは、ものすごいことだし、どれほどこの演奏がすぐれているかを示している。
ロストロポーヴィチが、すべてを出し切った演奏が、この価格。
絶対に買ってほしい。

この演奏は、ロマン的とは言いがたいですが、良くも悪くもなくです。ただ、ロストロポーヴィチが指揮してるのではないかと錯覚するくらい、彼の独壇場です。ロストロポーヴィチのファンなら必聴の価値は十分にあります。ただ、ティンパニが出すぎてテンポをつけすぎ・・・そのせいで、全体が少し硬い雰囲気になっているのが惜しいです。

ところが音が・・チェロの音が小さく、潰れて聴こえます。
