ベートーベンの交響曲をピアノでということですが、この第６番に関して評価は意見の分かれるところでしょう。リストの編曲に演奏者自身が手を加えています。それがややもすると一人で弾くピアノの限界が見え隠れする印象を与えてしまうかもしれませんが、見方を変えれば、カツァリス のこの一連のベートーベンの交響曲ピアノ演奏に対する熱い思いが感じられます。そういった意味で購入する価値は十二分にあると思います。

　わたしの手元にあるのは、このバラ売り盤ではなく、全曲集である。　
　その中で、一番のお気に入りが、この「田園」だ。
　このピアノバージョンを、原曲のオケバージョンと聴き比べてみると、全9曲中、一番原曲に近い演奏内容になっているように思う。　
　特に印象的だったのが、第2楽章序盤の、主旋律とトリルの弾き分けと、ラスト近くで、野鳥（かっこう、うずら、ナイチンゲール）の3重唱が、実に見事に表現されていることである。この2点は、カツァリスのスーパーテクが、最も発揮されている部分だろう。
　また、第5楽章の、コーダに入る直前の盛り上がりも、すばらしいの一言。この感動は、オケバージョン以上かもしれない。
　カツァリスは、リストがアレンジしたこの曲を、より原曲に近づけるべく、さらに自分で手を加えて弾いている。
　その超人的なテクニックには、ただ脱帽するばかりである。
