ジャジャジャジャーン何回も聞く運命。カツァリスのベートーヴェン交響曲編曲集の最後を飾る第五交響曲。オーケストラの強いイメージをどう聞く者にピアノで印象づけるか、このディスクを聞くと彼の解釈がよくわかる気がする。とくに低音連打やトリルが炸裂していてピアノが壊れるほどに演奏している。併録としてエロイカ交響曲の第4楽章の主題をテーマとした変奏曲も良い。

カツァリスのベートーヴェン交響曲（リスト編曲）の最後を飾る第５番。緻密に構成された音楽性、忠実な再現と表現力の真価、完成された超絶技巧・・・。まさにカツァリスのピアノ作品に挑む真摯な姿勢は聴けば分かる程、明解な解釈で表現されているのである。第一楽章の主導動機の強烈的なアピール、そしてフィナーレの豪華絢爛さ。打鍵の強さや轟く低音がまさにベートーヴェンが誇示した「運命は戸を叩く」を意識したものではなかろうか。
続くエロイカ変奏曲は英雄の第四楽章テーマを用いた変奏曲。演奏はかなり難しい部分が多く含まれており、内容は哲学的な様相を呈しながら巨大な創造物を構築していくものである。
