   69年、米・テキサス州で結成された、泥臭く荒削りなハード・ブギー・ロックのスリーピースバンドである。
   75年発表の本作は4枚目である。1曲目から3曲目まではライヴ・テイク、4曲目以降はスタジオ録音となっており、当時のアナログ盤、A面B面にそれぞれが収録された。一風変わった試みであるが、ライヴに根強い人気のある彼らの魅力をよりアピール。広くロックファンの支持を仰ぐこととなった。これにより、それまでのワイルドな750ccライダー達の必携BGMといったマニアックなイメージが、少しばかり和らいだようである。（春野丸緒）

'75年発表の4作目。(1)(2)(3)はニュ-オリンズのとある倉庫での、彼等にとって初めてのライブ録音。ムンムンとした熱気が伝わって来る白熱の演奏だが、やや雑な印象を受ける。それに対し残りの(4)から(9)までのスタジオ録音曲は全て素晴らしい出来。楽曲の良さは勿論、ドライブ感、グル-ブ感、緊張感どれも申し分なし。特に(5)はJeff Healeyもカバ-しているスロ-ブル-ズのオリジナル作品だがこれが名曲。この頃が彼等にとって全盛期だったと思う。ZZ Topファン必聴のアルバム。

どっぷりとﾌﾞｷﾞｰﾛｯｸを堪能できる75年の作品。最初の３曲は完全なるﾌﾞｷﾞｰﾛｯｸﾊﾟｰﾃｨを楽しめるﾗｲﾌﾞ音源。プレスリーの「監獄ロック」でのテンションはものすごく、ﾗｲﾌﾞﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞとしての彼らを楽しめる貴重なテイク。 地を這うような重低音のギターと、南部の泥臭いﾛｯｸと、ﾏﾃﾞｨｰｳｫｰﾀー、ｼﾞｮﾝﾘｰﾌｯｶｰの様なねばっこいﾌﾞﾙｰｽが入り混じり、かつﾛｯｸﾝﾛｰﾙﾊﾟｰﾃｨ・ﾌﾞｷﾞｰﾛｯｸが融合したｽﾘｰﾋﾟｰｽﾊﾞﾝﾄﾞならではのｽﾄﾚｰﾄﾛｯｸな初期の彼らの代表作。個人的には彼らの最高傑作だとおもいます。大推薦盤！

テキサスの暑く乾いた空気感が伝わる盤。前半がレコード時代から評判の高いライブサイドで歯切れの良い、強力なブギーで聴いていて笑ってしまうほど爽快にぶんぶん飛ばす。後半のスタジオサイドはスピードブギーだけじゃないぜと、スローにもミディアムにもブルージーな味わいで聴かせる。初期ＺＺといえば、南部のブルージーなパワートリオの魅力満載のこの盤が代表作。ジョニーウインター、レーナードスキナードが好きな方はぜひ。
