　このアルバムはアメリカの古き良きイメージを想起させるさまざまなタイプの曲を、これまたアメリカを代表する腕利きのミュージシャンたちが数多く参加して創り上げた贅沢なアルバムだ。
　楽器も多彩で、通常のロック編成ではなく、マンドリンやフレットレスベース、ペダルスティールやヴァイオリンなどアメリカのルーツミュージックを形成するポピュラーなものが使用されている。
　しかし、とりわけて耳がいくのはヴォーカルのマリア・マルダーの歌唱で、彼女の個性が最大限に発揮されているのがこのアルバムの魅力と思える。
歌よし、曲よし、演奏よし、ムードよしの傑作だと思います。
　清涼感と円熟が同居したオアシスのような作品です。

マリア・マルダーの唄声は砂漠で見つけた命の湧水のように心に染みます。ある瞬間は無垢な乙女のように、ある時は官能的な円熟の女性のようにオールドタイムミュージックを気持ち良さそうに唄い上げます。心が洗われ、部屋の空気さえ一変させる音楽のマジックをぜひ味わって下さい。

ライ・クーダー、ジム・ケルトナー、ドクター・ジョン等、腕利き達はその唄声を最高のサウンドでフォローしています。特に「真夜中のオアシス」でのエイモス・ギャレットのギタープレイは空高く舞い上がる空前絶後の美しさです。

何十年たっても古びない究極のソロデビューアルバム。絶対のお勧めです。

今さら改めて云々するのもかえって野暮のような気もしますが、アナログで散々聞いてきた方も多いはずのこのアルバムは、個人的なことを言わせてもらえば、その良さは認めるにやぶさかではありませんが、どうしても体質的にたくさんは聞くことのない、いわゆる「ウッドストック系」の中にあって、例外的に長年親しんできた一枚で、マリア・マルダーは好きと公言する割りに実はこの一枚しか所有していなかったりします。全編、タイトル通りの「オールド・タイム」な曲調のアメリカン・ミュージックが並び、エイモス・ギャレットのギターが歌に寄り添うように奏でられます（随所にそれっぽいピアノが聞こえるので、もしやのドクター・ジョンも、本名のマック・レヴェナックで参加しています）。楽曲的にも「真夜中のオアシス」やドリー・パートンの原曲と甲乙付け難い「マイ・テネシー・マウンテン・ホーム」、ロン・デイヴィスの「ロング・ハード・クライム」（セルフ・カヴァーもよいです）を始め、いずれ劣らぬ佳曲揃いです。
