博士号まで持ち、大学で教鞭をとっていたインテリ、そんなマイケル・フランクスの実質のデビューアルバム。バックはキーボードにジョー・サンプル、ギターにラリー・カールトン、ベースにウィルトン・フェルダーという名バンドのクルセイダーズが固めています。この時代に、Jａｚｚ界などのプレイヤーをバックに自分の作った曲を演奏させる自体が斬新であり、AORの先駆けと言われる所以でもある。マイケルのゆったりとしたソフトなボーカルにあわせて奏でるバックの音は、時にはJAZZテイストたっぷりでゆったりと時の流れを伝え、またフュージョン

要素たっぷりに楽器がリズミカルに奏でたりと、曲によって表情を変えていきます。AORの５本の指にも入るマイケル・フランクス。時にはJAZZのカテゴリーに入れら??など、決して派手さがありませんが、
休日の午後、お茶をのみながらゆったりと聴くのにぴったりだったりと

ゆったりと気持ちにしてくれる音楽を提供してくれています。こんな名盤のレビューを誰も書いていないなんてびっくりです。

　学生時代、[THE ART OF TEA ] と [sleeping gypsy] のレコードをよく聴いていたので、懐かしくて最近 CD を買いました。今もこんなに売れていたなんて!! それもたまたま持っていた二枚がMICHAEL の名盤だったなんてうれしくなってしまいました。
　Mr.Blue は泣けます。酔えます。当時、歌詞など気にもしていませんでしたが、We touched like watercolor fawns in landscapes painted by Cezanne, Or lovers floating Painted by Chagall・・・
　美大生だった私が酔うはずです。今も絵を描く時に流します。MICHAEL の声はさりげなく、耳に優しいのです。

いきなりラリー・カールトンの泣きのギターと、ジョー・サンプルのクールなエレピで頭がクラクラ、体はプルプルになってしまう。　
このＡＯＲの歴史的名盤、マイケル・フランクスの実質デビュー・アルバムの主役は、実はこの二人じゃないかとさえ思う。何曲かで参加している デイヴィド・サンボーンのアルトサックスもセクシーだ。本当に「トミー・リピューマ本舗」印 の作品の中でもこのアルバムは、ダントツでカッコいい。 マイケル・フランクスのアルバムは、単なるヴォーカル・アルバムとしてでなく（歌もの）フュージョン・アルバムとして聴くのが正しい。
