全46曲のシナトラのヒットソングがづらりと収録されているベスト盤です。

ただ、このアルバムはあくまでも彼のレーベルを記念して製作されたものですので、これさえあればシナトラの全てがわかるというのはどうかな？　どちらかといえば、ここからがシナトラの絶頂期であるのは確かであるので、これは絶頂期に達したシナトラのベスト盤という解釈が正しい気がする。年齢で言えば、45〜70歳ぐらいのシナトラですね。

シナトラといえば、誰もが知っているようにキャピタル時代が一番人気がありますが、各時代のベスト盤をそれぞれ網羅し体系的に把握していないとシナトラのよさは理解できない。

彼はもともとビック・バンド・ヴォーカルで、私は1940年代前半のトミー・ドーシー楽団時代のシナトラが一番のお気に入りです。この時の人気が後にソロでやっていく自信につながり、コロンビア、そしてキャピタルとスーパースターに昇り続けて行くのです。

テロ依頼あまり景気のよい話が聞かれないアメリカ。でもこのＣＤを聞くとアメリカにはいつでも夢がある！希望がある！ロマンがあると感じさせてくれる。１曲１曲がゴージャスで明日はきっといいことがあるさって気分になれる。シナトラの、声がイイ！なんてのを通り越してホレボレと聞き入ってしまう。ニューヨークの摩天楼がすぐそこにあるかのような気分に浸れるＯＬＤＮＥＷなアルバム。

膨大な数の素晴しい歌を残したシナトラですが
その中でも、誰もが一度は耳にしたことがあるような
有名曲を網羅した二枚組アルバムです。
シナトラ初心者でいきなりオリジナルアルバムを
チョイスする自信がない方は、まずこういう
ベスト版から入ってみるのが最適かも。
