ピーター・セテラは言うまでもなくシカゴのベーシストで２０年に渡りロック・シーンの最前線にいたミュージシャンである。さらに、シカゴの８０年代のヒット曲の殆んど書いてきた、言わば大物である。彼の音楽の真骨頂は、シカゴ時代の「素直になれなくて」や「愛ある別れ」などのバラード曲である。このアルバムはそのシカゴを脱退したピーター・セテラのソロ・アルバムである。このアルバムを聴き通して感じられるのは、爽やかさなのだ。これだけの大物ミュージシャンにしてこの爽やかさは凄いもんだと感じてしまう。聴き所は、大ヒット曲の３曲目「グローリー・オブ・ラブ」と５曲目エイミー・グラントとのデュエット「ネクスト・タイム」でその曲を中心にポップな曲で構成されている。

シカゴのバラード作品がお好きだった方にはお薦めです。

　ピーター・セテラの代表作。「グローリー・オブ・ラヴ」「ネクスト・タイム」が全米でチャート１位を記録した他、「ビッグ・ミステイク」もスマッシュ・ヒット。「愛だけが証し」も日本でシングル・カットされていた。８０年代に入ってから、「ピーター・セテラといえばバラード」というイメージがあるが、先に挙げた「ビッグ・ミステイク」や「ゼイ・ドント・メイク・エム」のような、リズムを全面に打ち出した曲も文句なしに素晴らしい出来。映画「ベスト・キッド２」に「グローリー・オブ・ラヴ」が主題歌、「ネクスト・タイム」にボビー・コールドウェルが作曲で参加、バックにレイ・パーカーＪｒ、ジェフ・ポーカロなどの大物も参加、話題もふりまいた。

シカゴのフロントマンだったピーター・セテラがシカゴを脱退して翌年にリリースした2作目。（1作目はシカゴ在籍中の1981年）　プロデューサーはシカゴ脱退直前のデヴィッド・フォスターからマイケル・オマーティアンに変わっているものの、基本的には得意のバラードを中心にして、シンセベース等を多用し当時のコンテンポラリーな音で、確実に受け入れられる作りです。アップテンポの曲はシカゴというバンドサウンドとは異質で、新たなセテラ像を感じさせます。逆にバラードはシカゴ時代を踏襲したイメージ。やはり彼の最大の武器はこの声自体ですね。
