皆さんが書いているように、本当に音楽的にすばらしいCDです。
聞いてみてください。買うべきです。

名曲です。
パンクとかオルタとかそういうジャンルに分類されていますが、
このCDの存在を知った人は全て聞くべき対象の人だと思います。
10回聞いてつまらなかったら売って下さい。
ここで見過ごすリスクより全然小さいと思います。本気で。

個人的なことで言うと、この25年間諦めそうなことがあると、
「青二才の」マークスチュワートがDon't sell your dreams!と頭の中から叫びます。
Please....don't sell your dreamsと囁きます。pleaseですよ、このPleaseが心にこたえます。
そうだよな。そんな頼まれなくても。自分の夢を売り渡すことは無いよな・・・と、何とか這い上がってこれてます。

二十歳の青年に教わることはまだまだ多い。

PS.
当時シングルで出た曲が一曲目に入っているがじゃま。出来れば最後にいて欲しかったのは私だけ？

　　　　　　　 『 歴史的名盤 』といっても、けして大袈裟ではない。

本作の『 Ｙ 』で唄われる唄達は、ぼやきなんかではない『 真の叫び 』が曲と織り交ぜながら詰め込まれている。
　ぜひとも、この叫びを己の『魂』で感じとって欲しい。
怒り、混沌、恐怖、不安、などの高らかに叫びあげる感情の奥から違う表情が見えてくるはず・・・・・
　時代は無常にも流れ去っていくが、けして色褪せることのないものも確かにある。
ここへ辿り着いて、未聴の方は、けして万人向けでない この産物を一度耳にしておく事をオススメしておきたい。

本作を聴くにあたり、彼等の『 叫び 』だけではなく、音的にも大変に面白い作風や試みで、パンク、レゲエ、JAZZ、ファンク、ダブなどの要素と、そのアイディア、音の拡がりもぜひとも堪能して欲しい。
名前の『 THE POP GROUP 』もタイトルの『 Ｙ 』も実にシンプルだが、一筋縄ではいかない音と精神を感じて欲しい。
聴く人により、呪符的な儀式や宴を連想してしまうかもしれない、ただ騒がしいだけに聴こえるかもしれない･････が、あの何とも言えないリズムが堪らなく心地良い。

※　ちなみに オリジナルのLP盤（1979年作）は　2. THIEF OF FIRE（戦火は消えない）から始まる全9曲で、本作で 1.がシングル盤でリリースされたものを追加した全10曲です。この風格ある？ジャケも私的に心鷲掴みで◎。
　昔、新宿のレコ屋で、本作LP盤か、ドーナツ盤？かが、結構良い値で置かれており（プレミアム）、食事代を削ってまで買おうかどうか真剣に財布と睨めっこした事を思い出す。

　79年にリリースされた彼らのデビューアルバム。本来1曲目の「She is Beyond Good and Evil」はシングル曲で96年のre-release時に追加された。

　パンクの洗礼を受けた以降のイギリスのバンドの作品としては最重要作品であると思う。既成概念の枠を全てぶち壊し、アナーキーな発想によるファンク、ダブ、パンク、ジャズ、民族音楽など自分なりに解釈し昇華させたような斬新な音楽や思想は今もブリストルのバンド群に受け継がれている。

　この後3枚のアルバムを残して分裂するが、この1st以外の作品は手に入らない状況になっており、彼らの素晴らしい音楽を聴けない今の状況はとても残念だ。
