素晴らしいベストだよ。ヴェリーベストに収録曲などでは負けるがジャケがカッコ良いよね。全部Purple流Hard Rockだしね。曲の流れもGood。１曲目から皆が知っている曲で、最後も皆が知っている曲で終わるよ。ただ不満があるといえば３,４期の曲が少ないかな。４期は一曲も無いし。どうせなら新しくCD２枚組み盤だして１枚目はレコード(これ)と同じ収録曲で、２枚目にMistreated、Soldier Of Fortuneといった曲や、４期のComin' Home 、Gettin' Tighter　等が欲しいね。でもこのアルバムは超お薦め。僕もこのアルバムが最初のPurple体験だった。

アルバムタイトルの意味は、ディープパープルの全盛期であった２、３期の曲
の中から代表曲を選曲したことに由来します。
また、リッチーブラックモアのいないディープパープルなんてパープルじゃないと思っている私のようなファンには、２、３期＝ディープパープルであり、

このアルバムをもって、ディープパープルのＢＥＳＴアルバムといっても過言ではありません。
全盛期からの選曲であり、全曲、皆が知っている名曲のオンパレードになっています。
パープルファンではなくても、全てのロックファンが楽しめる内容になっていると思います。

数多くのベストアルバムが出ているディープパープルですが、これは彼らの全盛期といわれている２、３期に絞って選曲したベストアルバムです。それ以外の１、４期や再結成以降についても確かに良い曲はあるのですが、最もパープルらしいサウンドが楽しめるという意味でパープル入門に最適のアルバムではないでしょうか。また、収録曲を見ても、彼らの代表曲である712を始め、名曲のオンパレードになっており、ハードロックファンには楽しめる内容になっていると思います。
80年代にＬＰ盤で発売された当時、そのあまりにストレートなタイトルに感動した記憶がありますが、そのタイトル通りの充実したベストアルバムだと思います。
