オフィシャル盤としては、後にホームグラウンドであるN.Y.でのモノを入れても２枚しかない彼等のライブ盤。その内の１枚が日本で録られたという事も、何か少し嬉しいのです。本作は'78年の来日公演時の郵便貯金ホール(＠東京)での演奏を収めたもの。健康上の理由からC.パーカーが来日できなかったものの、彼等の生音が聴けた当時の方々はさぞ嬉しかったのではと思います。
ライブということもあり、[2]でのジュニア・ウォーカー・メドレーや[4]でのプレーは本当に気持ちのいいものです。
確かに、派手ではない上に、曲も基本的に地味。しかし、それがイコール"ノレない音楽"ではないことは一聴瞭然。"プロが演じるには、あまりにも他愛の無い音楽"と揶揄される向きも(少なくとも私の周りでは)しばしばありますが、ライターズやDr.Strutといった同系グループが出現した経緯を知れば、"この手の音楽"が理屈ではなく、ニーズとしてあったことがわかるのではないかと思います。
＃スタジオ/セッションミュージジャンである彼等に"技術"が無い
＃訳が無いではありませんか。そう思いませんか?
不世出のバンドの貴重なライブテイクに乾杯!!

5.0 out of 5 stars ガッドのドラムを堪能できるアルバム, 2006/5/23
スタッフはドラムがスティーブ・ガッドとクリス・パーカーのツイン・ドラムの構成である。
しかし、このアルバムの録音日にはクリスが病気のため参加していない。
そのため、スタッフとしてはフルメンバーでないのが残念だが、ガッド好きの自分としては、逆に幸運となった。
ガッドのドラムを混じりっけなしで堪能できるからだ。
特に、Junior Walker Medleyの４分１０秒〜と、
Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours - Stuffs Themeの７分１８秒〜からのガッドのソロがすごい。
ガッドのキャリアの中でも５本の指に入るすごい演奏だ。
確かに、スタッフのライブ録音の完成度としては、メンバーが勢ぞろいの「イン・ニューヨーク」に１歩譲るけれど、
ガッド好きにはむしろこちらのアルバムをお薦めしたい。
