4.0 out of 5 stars 映画とマドンナ・サウンドとの融合, 2003/5/18
1990年に公開された「ディック･トレイシー」。マドンナも準主演級で出演。

この映画にインスパイアされて、このアルバムが制作されたのは
周知の事実。タイトルが「私はブレスレス」となっているのは映画での役名からだ。

さて、映画でマドンナが歌った３曲は、このアルバムに収録されており、

今までのマドンナとは一味違った、気取った曲調であるが、レコーディング
当初は、マドンナ自身、自分に合っていないとボヤいたらしいが、
見事、「スーナー･オア・レイター」はアカデミー賞主題歌賞を受賞！

さらに一世を風靡した「ヴォーグ」は、異彩を放つも、アルバム全体の
調和を乱していないのは、さすがである。

1996年「エビータ」にも通じる、映画とのコラボレーションはマドンナの
得意!技といえるのではないか？

なぜか酷評されているようですが、、、

マドンナのアルバムはすべて聴いていますが、確かにこのアルバム
は異色です。

ただ個人的に１つのアルバムとして聞いた時のまとまり感はこの
アルバムが群を抜いているように思います。

アルバムの中では一番好きです。ただダンスナンバーをお求めの
方には向いていないと思います。（笑）

彼女のアルバムはずっと聞いていましたが、これには少々がっかりしました。曲自体があまりよくないのと、この手のサウンドをやるには、ちょっと実力不足があらわに出ています。救いは12ですが、この曲もなぜこのアルバムに入っているのかと問われると、答えようがないですよね。それ以降のベストアルバムでは何度も取り上げられていますが、そちらで聞く方がしっくり来ます。当時人気絶頂なので、何やっても受けると思ったのか、自分の可能性をひけらかそうと思ったのか、真意は不明ですが、今までの彼女の歴史を見ても、自身が望んだサウンドではなく、ユーザーもそんなのを聞かされてはたまらんというのが正直なところでしょう。

ソンドハイムの歌が死んでる。
生き生きとした躍動感が求められるのに、表面上のテクニックだけ。
全体的にもマドンナはこういう曲に向いてない。
