幼年期に映画館で観た『犬神家の一族』の印象は、それはもう鮮烈なる記憶の刻印となりました。子供の頃はただただ怖く、この作品を見た後はとても一人で眠れなかったくらいです。しかし、この映画のテーマ曲は、人間の情愛が伝わってくる温かなものです。映像から離れて、サントラを聴いてみると、その素晴らしさがよくわかります。何か、妙な懐かしさと切なさを包んだ風が目の前に吹いてくるような・・・。とにかく味わい深いサントラです。

2006年版の新作『犬神家の一族』も、旧作と同じテーマを使うと聞きました。（新作版サントラは12月に発売。）
やはり、市川監督＋石坂金田一の角川『犬神家の一族』は、この音楽抜きでは語れません。
何よりも「愛のバラード」の美しい旋律は、耳に残り忘れられません。
琴を爪弾いているような主旋律が、ポピュラー音楽に和風のテイストを加味しており、
暗さの中にもダイナミックでもあり、それ以上に豪華で美しいイメージをあらわす重要な要素になっています。
「ルパン三世」にならぶ、大野雄二氏の代表作であるだけでなく、日本映画史に残る名曲です。

4.0 out of 5 stars 「愛のバラード」以外は……, 2006/4/12
小学生の時映画館で見てから「犬神家」は一番好きな横溝作品となり、「愛のバラード」は言葉にできないほどの名曲だと思っています。
しかし、それ以外の曲には私はあまり興味がないので少し辛い。
また、ジャケットが宣伝に使用された杉村一文さんが描かれた有名な絵でないのも残念でした。
