ザ・コアーズの魅力は、必ずしもそのアルバムだけには収まり切れないと思います。ライブになると、アンドレアのティンホィッスル、キャロラインのバウロン、シャロンのバイオリン、そしてジムのギター、それぞれの楽器の音色が一際冴え渡るのが判るでしょう。この『Unplugged』では、そんなコアーズの最良の演奏が聴けます。公式には初披露された新曲「Radio」「At Your Side」は、新鮮そのもので「どんな新曲なのかな？」とドキドキさせられました。また、「Little Wing」「Old Town」「Everybody Hurts」といった、彼ら４人が愛する他のアーティストをカバーした曲も見事です。そして何と云っても、いつもはアンドレアのバックボーカルを担当している２人の姉、シャロンとキャロラインがデュエットしている「No Frontiers」。これはもう絶品！何度も何度も繰り返して聴きたくなります。このアルバムは、日本とオーストラリアのみ収録が許可されたというボーナストラック、「Dreams」で終わります。ここでは、４人のコーラスの美しさを味わうことが出来るでしょう。今年９月の来日公演に行かれる方は、この『Unplugged』で「予習」しておくといいかも知れません。お薦めです。

コアーズのアルバムはすべて持っている。3つのオリジナルアルバムももちろんいい。しかし、どれを棺おけに入れてほしいか選ぶとすれば間違いなくこれだ。得てしてコアーズはいわゆるシングルヒット的な曲はあまりない。コアーズといえばこれでしょ、という曲は実はファンでも意見が割れるのだ。アルバム全体で聞かせる、これこそコアーズの最大の魅力である。そして、それを最も体現しているのがこのアルバムなのだ。アンプレグドといえばエリッククラプトン、それももちろんいい。でも、コアーズもその最高峰の存在を占めているのは聞き込んでいけば、異論のないことだろう。

マライア・キャリーをはじめ多くのアーティストがアンプラグド・ライブを
行ってきたが、バイオリン、ティン・ホイッスル、ドラムなど、電子楽器よ
り生楽器をプレイするThe Corrsにとって、Unpluggedはまさにぴったりと
いえる。
兄妹のきれいなコーラス・ワーク、三女アンドレアの澄んだリード・ヴォー

カル、そしてそれぞれの生演奏。そのまま収録してあるので、CDだけれど
臨場感があって、本当にライブを聴いている感じです。
いろいろな曲を演ってくれるので、プレ・ベスト盤としてもおすすめ。
