Album Details

Japanese only SHM pressing. Features 24-bit mastering and packaged in a paper sleeve. The SHM-CD [Super High Material CD] format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special polycarbonate plastic. Using a process developed by JVC and Universal Music Japan discovered through the joint companies' research into LCD display manufacturing SHM-CDs feature improved transparency on the data side of the disc allowing for more accurate reading of CD data by the CD player laser head. SHM-CD format CDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.

BONに抜かされてもMOTLEYに置いて行かれても負けません。このアルバムではいままでになかった曲調にチャレンジ。なんてたってプロデューサーがボー・ヒルではないのだ！！　ONE　STEP　AWAYなどはノリではなくおしゃれな曲調。ただ世の中がもうRATTに振り向きませんでした。いいアルバムなんだけどね。

賛否両論あると思うけれど、個人的にこのアルバムが一番好き。他のアルバムと比べると、プロデューサー変わったの、一発でわかるよね（笑）。注目曲は「Giving yourself away」かな、やっぱ。こういう感じのバラード、もっと作ってもよかったんじゃなかったのかな~って思う。歌詞もかっこいいし、ソウルフルで何度聴いても震えてくる。こういう一生聞いていても飽きないような曲って、やっぱすごいなって思う。スキッズの「18 & Life」であったり、Damn yankeesの「high enough」であったり、キッスの「forever」であったり。心が震えてくるような、そんな音楽がハード・ロックだな~。あ、ラットンロックか（笑）

前作が大失敗に終わり、復活の「Detonaiter（起爆剤）」になって欲しかった運命の五作目。ボンジョヴィを大成功に導いたＤ・チャイルドを多くの曲に起用し、プロデューサーも一新。たしかに、ポップで印象的なメロディラインが多く、10曲目などは初の本格的バラードっぽい。しかし、これが大失敗。スティーブンのボーカルはこういうメロディには合ってないというか・・・歌唱能力の無さを暴露してしまった。ＲＡＴＴにはロビン・クロスビーという優れたソングライターがいるにもかかわらず、売れ線に走ってしまったのだ。7曲目はロビンと仲の良いＪ・ボン・ジョヴィが参加し、11曲目は長い間お蔵入りになっていた初期からの名曲と話題もあったが・・・。普通のＨＲアルバムと考えると★3つだが、ＲＡＴＴらしくないで★2つ。

RATTは名前だけは知ってて、偶然中古屋で180円で見つけたので買ってみた。メタルだけど、結構聴きやすい方だと思う。ONE STEP WAYが一番好きかな!
