全体的にＳＦっぽい雰囲気の曲が集められたアルバム。
「エクステンションズ」って「乗換駅」という意味らしい。
そこで、出会う人たちの織りなす場面・・・という感じですかね。
男女二人ずつのメンバーの実力は最たるもので歌唱力は抜群です。リズムはアップテンポで、乗りのいい感じ。
ＬＰ盤が出ていた頃は、「マン・トラ」なんて呼んでいたグループです。
ちょっと、ゴージャスいかが。

70s半ばにデビューし、着実にスターダムに上がったマンハッタン・トランスファ。ヴォーカリーズというスタイルをモダンに、そしてソフィスティケイトされたスタイルが老若男女を問わずに受け入れられたところが最大の武器足り得たのでしょう。
本作は彼等の5thアルバム('79年作)にあたり、プロデューサーにJ.グレイドンを迎えての人気作にもなりました。
そのJ.グレイドン、D.フォスター、S.キップナーという豪華作者による軽快な[3]も然る事ながら、より一層ファンを喜ばせたのはやはり[1]ではないでしょうか。まさかウェザー・リポートの曲に歌詞を付けるとは(^^;
別段奇を衒った訳ではないでしょうが、余りにも素晴らしい仕上がりではありませんか!
また、フュージョン/ロック派の耳からすれば、その[1]でJ.ポーカロ(ds)、D.ハンゲイト(b)、M.ボディッガー(synth)、R.コール(as)等がバックを務めているのも興味深いところです。他曲ではありますが、S.ルカサー(g)、G.マシソン(synth)等の名前も見えます。ジャズのカテゴライズに留まらずロック/ポップのカテゴリにも人気が波及した所以が判ります。
裏ジャケットに書かれた"このアルバムをE.ジェファーソンに捧げる"という一文も粋ですね。
＃アルバム中の[5]は、そのE.ジェファーソンが
＃"Body And Soul"という作品で演じています。
