個人的な楽曲の好み、云々のレベルを越えて、
ある意味PINKの中で最も代表作として相応しい一枚。
PINKというバンドの方向性を位置づけた表題作「光の子」は、
まさにPINK、という音づくりがなされている。
全体としては、1枚めのアルバム同様、模索してるかな、という部分もあるので、
楽曲によっては聴き手の好き嫌いがはっきりと分かれるだろう。

それだけで低評価にするには、あまりにも勿体無い。

アルバムとしてはそれ程好きではないけれど、この作品には看過できない曲が三曲ある。表題にもなっている同名の曲、「日蝕譚」、そして「LUCCIA」。特に「日蝕譚」と「LUCCIA」は強く推奨しておきたい。彼等の数ある曲群の中でもとても印象的な楽曲。ベスト盤でも聴くことは可能なので機会があれば是非どうぞ。

彼らが登場すると、どんな場所であろうとそこはダンスフロアと化す。地響きを起こす強力なリズム･セクション、ナイフのような切れ味を見せるシンセとギターのリフ、有無を言わせない豪放なビートに繊細かつ美しいメロディーとハーモニーが絡み、様々なジャンルを飲み込んで誕生した彼らならではの音世界。

「光の子」　タイトルチューン。ファンク・ビートとガムランのポリリズム。網の目のようなリズム。ステディな世紀末へ飛翔する光の子たち。
「ＳＨＩＳＵＮＯ」　萩尾望都「銀の三角」に出てくるラトグリーンが奏でる歌のイメイジ。ちょっとした遊びの小曲。
「日蝕譚」　うねるようなビート、絡み合うメロディーと詩。作詞は吉田美奈子。
「ＨＩＤＩＮＧ　ＦＡＣＥ」 どこまでも終わらぬようなメロディー。そして解決を求めながら、繰り返しゲームを続ける男と女。
「ＧＯＬＤ　ＡＮＧＥＬ」　ギターの渋谷の詩。シュールな内容は彼がよく見る夢の風景のようです。
「ＤＯＮ’Ｔ　ＳＴＯＰ　ＰＡＳＳＥＮＧＥＲＳ」　シングルカットチューン。少年期の夢を抱いたまま、時の流れに立ち止まることのない旅人たち。
「ＩＳＯＬＡＴＥＤ　ＲＵＮＮＥＲ」　ランナーズ・ハイへ至る息づかい。まるでコヤニスカッティのような・・・・・どこへ行く？
「青い羊の夢」　奇妙なメロディー。眠りの為の眠りに見る夢。青い羊の夢。
「星のＰＩＣＮＩＣ」　ありそうもない話。いけそうもないピクニック。パラダイス・ロスト。
「ＬＵＣＣＩＡ］　美しいメロディー。美しい詩。シンプルなアレンジ。美しい三位一体。

ＰＩＮＫの曲は個性が強いので、好きなものとそうでないものがあるが、全アルバムの中ではこれを一番よく聴いたかも。
土着的な力強さと今にも壊れそうな繊細さが共存し、マクロとミクロの世界が混在するＰＩＮＫワールドを堪能できる。
特に１曲目の「光の子」は是非ヘッドフォンで聴いて、左右から飛び込む音の洪水を楽しんで欲しい。このアルバムではこのタイトル曲が一番のお気に入り。

ギターの渋谷ヒデヒロさんは既に鬼籍に入られています。。。。合掌。
