今年2作目となるマキシ・シングル。プロデュースをホッピー神山が手がけているのはちょっと意外だが、ハードでアップ・テンポな「【KR】cube」に感じられる多彩な音色を聴くと何となく納得。ただし一般的な“シングル”のイメージとは離れた楽曲だ。カップリングは、まずインディーズ時代から人気の高い「JEALOUS」のピアノ・ヴァージョンがファン泣かせの一曲。もう一つは京(vo)自身の手によるタイトル・トラックのリミックスで、「脈」で見せていたような突飛さはないものの、彼ららしい毒々しさがある。 (土屋京輔) --- 2000年07月号

1.【KR】cube
この曲はDirらしく、少し他のバンドとは違う何かを感じさせてくれます。最初の、特殊な音響効果を使った言葉やサウンド、歌詞もとても面白く、同じ言葉を何度か使う事によりとても耳に残ります。

2.JEALOUS-reverse-

この曲は正直な所余り知られていません。JEALOUSと言うDirがインディーズ時にだした曲の曲調や、方向性を変えた曲です。この曲は私が思う限り全ジャンルの曲の中で１、２を争うぐらいのバラードです。

初めて聞いたときは『ふぅ~ん』ぐらいの感じなんですけど、リピートして聞いた時に何故か耳に馴染み、とても泣ける曲になるんです。それにVoの京さんが泣きそうな歌い方をしていて涙を誘います。ピアノの悲しい音色に悲しい声を重ねる事により、とてもすごい曲になります。

仮のレコーディングでやってみたら、それがすごく良くてそのまま活かした。仮だったから緊張感がなく、逆に良かった･･･とDieさんが雑誌で言っていた曲です。
『和』の雰囲気が漂う、ノリのいい曲です。サビはもちろん、サビ前の部分のメロディーもDirらしい感じです。ジャケットも意味深。

ちなみに

「くるりくるりくるり」＝「KuRuri」×３＝「KuRuri」cube（←３乗という意味）＝【KR】cube
･･･となったらしいのですが、本当なんでしょうか。

初めて聞いたときから格好良くもおぞましいと感じて心に残っていた楽曲です。

それもそのはず、和風の歌詞やメロディーを散りばめ、
和テイスト特有の恐ろしさを引き出すよう緻密に計算された楽曲だからです。

暗くも華やかなDirの京の都観が反映された作品だと言えるのではないでしょうか。

ｃ/ｗの「JEALOUS -reverse-」はインディーズ音源のリメイク版。

Dirのバラード曲の完成度の高さはいつでも目を見張るものがありますが、
今作ではそれが図抜けていて、タイトル曲と相まって非常に完成度の高いシングルに仕上がっています♪
