5.0 out of 5 stars 創造力あふれる、美しい万華鏡のような音楽, 2007/8/30
彼の音楽に初めて接したのが「炎のランナー」。次がいきなり「ブレードランナー」で、映像の魔術をさらに高めてくれたヴァンゲリスの、美しく、創意にあふれる音楽の虜になってしまった。
以後、多くのCDを聞いてきたが、私のベスト３を挙げると次のようになる。
第１位は、当然ながらサントラCD「ブレードランナー」。
第２位は、オリジナルアルバムCD「voices」。全体がテーマに基づく組曲のような構成で、気宇壮大なシンフォニーやリリカルな美しいメロディー、異国情緒の音など、イマジネーションあふれる音色の万華鏡のごとき作りで、通して何度聞いても飽きない。
第３位にはいくつか候補があり、初期の名作「天国と地獄」「反射率０．３９」も無視できないが、やはり、サントラCD「１９４２コロンブス」にしたい。装置の技術的進歩もあるが、やはり、音の厚みや、映画のテーマに沿った、スケールの大きい荘厳な音作りが良い。
彼の音楽を聴くと、さまざまなイメージが沸き起こってくるし、その音世界に完全に浸りこんでしまう。そして、精神的に深い何かを与えてくれるのだ。そういう点において、彼は、単なるミュージシャンではなく、創造力にあふれるまさに「芸術家」だと思う。

１曲目の「ヴォイシズ」は、2002FIFAワールドカップの公式アンセムにそっくりの曲です。体の芯から力がわいてくる名曲です。
お勧めです。

全体が一つのコンセプトで作られているアルバムですが、特に3トラック目"Come to me"から
7トラック目"Losing Sleep (Still, My Heart)"の、しっとりとした雰囲気が秀逸です。
さらに、6トラック目の"Prelude"は、哀感溢れる旋律の美しさが素晴らしい曲で、
次の荘厳な曲"Losing Sleep (Still, My Heart)"のまさにプレリュード的存在となって
います。お奨め盤です。
