ドッグファイトというのは、アメリカ人の兵隊の間の隠語で、一番ブサイクな女の子をゲットしてきた者が優勝というパーティーに同伴する女の子をナンパするゲーム。リヴァー演じる主人公は、レストランで働くさえない女の子をナンパすることに成功する。何も知らない女の子は、パーティー会場に行ってやがて、自分が笑いものになっていることに気づく。青年はみんなの前では、気のないそぶりを見せるが、内心はこの女の子の心を傷つけたことを案じ逃げ去った彼女を追い、さっきまでの悪ふざけを詫びた。二人はやがて、その夜、本当のデートを楽しむのだった。そして、青年がベトナムへと旅立つ日が来た。内気な少女は思いを秘めたまま彼の帰りを待つ。一夜の遊びと割り切っていた青年だったが、ベトナムで負傷し帰国した時、他に彼を待つものは何もなかった…さえない女の子を演じるリリ・テイラーがものすごく上手い。そしてGIカットのリヴァーもキュート。オルゴールの前のキスシーンも胸キュン。ベトナム戦争の悲惨さも何気なく描かれぐっと熱いものがこみ上げてきます。しかも、これ、幻の作品です。大きなツ○ヤならふるーーいビデオが一本くらいなくもないかも。リヴァーファン必見の一本

どこか懐かしくて、ティーンエージャーのすがすがしさと、
ぎこちない可愛らしさに胸がキュンとなるような初恋の映画です。
時は第２次世界大戦下。時代に翻弄されながらも、若くて常に
フェアであろうとするアメリカの若者がいきいきと描かれています。
また相手役であるリリ・テイラーの、たとえ容姿には恵まれなくても

女性としての誇りや気高さを内に秘めた姿には、
現代の女性が忘れかけているような、古き良き女性像を
思い起こさせるものがあります。
若いころの胸のときめきや、抱いていた理想を思い出したい方には
かなりお勧めの映画です。

半年程前、深夜にテレビで流れていた映画。なんとなく見ていたのですが、最後には胸が熱くなり涙がでそうになりました。今まで見た映画の中で最も主人公の気持ちと一体となれた映画です。残念ながらタイトルを覚えていなかったためネットで調べ、ここにたどり着きました。ビデオしか発売されてないのは残念です。在庫がないということですが、入荷次第、すぐに購入したいと思っています。
