少年ジェシーは、母親から捨てられ孤児院から逃げ出し、ストリートキッズになった。ある日警察に捕まったジェシーは、一時的に親切な里親のもとに身元を引き取られる。その後、いたずらをした罰として、ジェシーが落書きをした水族館で働く事に。そこで、ジェシーは家族と引き離されたシャチのウィリーと出会い、ふたりは心を通わせていくが…。脚本も良く、登場人物も主人公とシャチ以外の人々の行動も心も、良く描写されている。エンディングにMichael Jacksonの主題歌「Will You Be There」が流れます。この曲は大ヒットしました。このVideoクリップはYouTubeでご覧になれます。この映画には大俳優は出ていませんが、佳作です。年齢を問わずにお楽しみいただけます。何でMichaelが・・・と思いの方はフリーウィリー3迄ご覧ください。

里親や周りの人間に決して心を開かない少年ジェシーと家族から引き離され、見せ物として狭い水槽に閉じ込められて人間不信のシャチのウィリーとの出会いがお互いの心を癒し、友情を深めていくドラマです。オレゴンの雄大な自然の中で繰り広げられる、少年とウィリーの物語。

二人を見守る、飼育係の老人と里親の夫婦。そしてウィリーをめぐって暗躍する人々。ウィリーを救うためにジェシーは・・・
主題歌を歌うのはなんとマイケル・ジャクソン、そして、この映画によってウィリーのモデルになったシャチはオレゴンの人々によって本当に劣悪な水族館から海に返されたのです。心暖まる映画なのでお勧めしたいです。

この映画を観て感じたことは、自分が子供だった頃の気持ちを忘れていたということでした。
一度、少年だった頃の自分に出会ってみるのもいいかもしれません。
そういう映画だと思いました。
