ジャッキーチェンの初期の作品のクンフー映画です。ジャッキーのクンフー映画というと酔拳シリーズが有名ですが、酔拳や蛇拳あたりが好きなジャッキーファンにはおすすめです。

主人公のイールン（ジャッキーチェン）が父親の仇を討つために少林寺で修行しているところから話がスタートし、少林寺で囚われている謎の男と親しくなり拳法を習って強くなっていき、ついには少林寺の免許皆伝の試験ともいう木人の試練に挑む…というストーリー展開です。ストーリー自体は非常に定番のストーリーですが、最後にちょっとあっと驚く展開もあり、ストーリー以外でもいたるところででてくるクンフーアクションにリズミカルな音楽と、今見ても中々楽しめる映画だと思います。
