中学生の頃、再放送を毎日楽しみにしてました。オールジャパン・ヤクザVS警察の精鋭部隊というベタでわかりやすい設定、銃器ぶっ放しっぱなしのノンストップ・アクションに魅入られてました。梅宮兄ィは逮捕なんかしないで、ピストルを渡して相手に撃たせたうえで、合法的に射殺してました（それでも正当防衛かよ……）。そんなピカレスクなドラマに、ホーンセクションのやたらきらびやかな大野雄二の音楽はマッチしまくりでした。OPタイトルはあまりにもかっこよすぎで、100回は繰り返し聴いたものです。

無骨なアクションが蘇る！
渡瀬、梅宮、志賀勝、片桐竜次の映像が彷彿できる最高の逸品です。
朝聞いたら一日マッドポリスの感覚になれる！

プロデューサー・高島幹雄が贈るミュージックファイルシリーズの初期リリース。激しい曲調のメインテーマは大野雄二らしくもあり、らしくなくもある。いっぽうエンディングテーマ「愁いの街」は叙情に満ちた「ザ・大野メロディ」である。頭の方に暗い曲が続くのは曲順のミスという気もするがご愛敬か。大野ファンはもちろん、刑事ドラマファンにも（ドラマを見たことがなくても）おすすめ。
