オープニングテーマからすでに「ルパン三世」の雰囲気が漂う。これってルパンの曲じゃないの？と言う人もいる。
「ルパン」開始が77年10月、「大追跡」は78年4月。ほぼ同時期に制作されているから似るのも当然。

CD全体を通して聞いても、ルパンのサントラに似ているフレーズやアレンジが数多く見られる。しかし、いずれもルパンにはあまり似つかわしくない曲ばかり。かたや無国籍泥棒アニメ、かたや神奈川県警を舞台とした型破り刑事ドラマ。その違いを表現できるのが、大野雄二なのである。

このノリのよさは、ルパンのサントラとはちょっと方向が違う。だからこのCDはルパンの音楽ファンにもぜひ聴いてほしい。大野雄二という人の仕事の幅が感じられるはず。

ただ、一部の曲は「ルパン三世」にも流用されたようであるが…

小学生の時に、この刑事ドラマを見ていました。大野雄二さんが作曲した、カッコいいテーマは、同じく大野さんが作曲したルパン三世のサントラより早かったか遅かったか、、、とにかく、今聴いても全然すたれない名曲です。

当時、「大都会PART２」と、「大都会PARAT３」の間で放映されていました。横浜を舞台にして、加山裕三、藤　達也、沖　雅也、柴田恭平、長谷直美のオールスターキャストで、なかなか見ごたえがありました。いま、このテーマを聴いても新鮮に感じられますね。また、CATVで放映されていますね。
