発売当初に購入し、生まれて初めて音楽で涙を流してから４年近く経つ。
今でもこのアルバムは「思い出の名盤」ではなく、「大切な音楽」としてCDラックで次の出番を待っている。

アルバム・ALIVEの内容はざっとこんなもんだ。
「軽いタッチで社会を、自分を切り刻む詩」。
「去る者に、泣きながら手を振る詩」。
「自分の居場所が解らなくなり、ふと空を見上げる詩」。
それらの言葉は、あまりに率直で純粋で、そして現実味を帯びている。
それらは全て、生きている限り現実に有り得る情景なのだ。

本来、音楽に言葉を持ち込むのは邪道なのかも知れない。
しかし、彼らの音楽家としての実力も侮ってはいけない。
音と音のハーモニーではなく、言葉と音のハーモニー。
その真実の…「SOPHIA」のハーモニーを聴くことが出来たならば、それはきっと価値のあるものとなってあなたの胸に残るだろう。

…とかなんとか、私はごく個人的に思っています（笑）。
とにかく歌詞カードを読みながら、出来れば一緒に唄いながら、顔に騙されないで（！）聴いてみてください。

余談ですが、何故この「ALIVE」を星５つにしなかったかというと…

同SOPHIAによる「マテリアル」とどうしても格差を付けたかっただけでして…ホントは星５つでもおかしくない名盤ですよ！

歌詞を見ながら…自分の今と照らし合わせながら…そしてその情景を思い浮かべながら、、、
聞くと誰もが涙を流すでしょう。本当に生きてる価値と生きてる意味が改めて発見できるアルバムでしょう。
ボーカル松岡充の独特な歌詞は、人の心を大きく動かす力があると思っています。
曲もいい歌ばかりで、絶対に一度は聞いてほしいアルバムだと思います。
