eastern youthのメジャーデビューシングルとなる本作。当時、カタカナ英語で歌う似非パンクバンドの隆盛に嫌気がさしていた自分は、全編日本語詞で綴られたこの表題曲『青すぎる空』を聴いて、ゴルフクラブで頭をぶん殴られた様な衝撃を受けたのを覚えている。一曲目『青すぎる空』と二曲目『何処吹く風』は共にアルバム『旅路ニ季節ガ燃エ落チル』にも収録されているが、二曲ともアルバムとは別バージョンになっていて若干こちらの方がポップでキャッチーな感じに聞こえるのが面白い。アルバム未収録の三曲目『幸福の鐘の音』もeastern史上最もポップな部類に入る曲ではないだろうか。
