発売当時中学生だった私は、夏色を購入し、カップリングにも惚れ、アルバムを購入。
どの曲も今も大好きだけれど、歳をとると共に、ぐっとくる歌詞も変化してきた。
その理由は簡単で、歌詞も、彼らの歌も、あるべくしてそこにあるし、
他の歌詞でも他の人でもいけない、そういうものを作っているからだ。
最後に収録されている「境界線」は、岩沢さんの伸びやかで澄んだ声が
あまりにもキレイである。境界線を越えたとき、だとか、
僕は鳥にでもなるんだろう、とか、果ては海や工場の煙だとか、
そんな一つ一つの単語に「自由」ということの全てが込められているように思う。あの境界線の先の自由と幸福と不安と…。
このアルバムは落ち込んだとき、とても幸せ気分なとき、何かをさがしているとき…いつだって側に置いてほしい、色々なものが見えてくる一枚だ。

発売されたのが３年前ということで、曲がどれもとても素朴です。路上時代に作った曲が多く、夜の街で歌っていた２人の姿が思い浮かぶようなアルバムです。いつ聞いても何となく気分が落ち着いてくる彼らの曲は、今の流行が忘れかけてしまったような、そんなものを持っています。

「そんなに泣かなくていいんだ」とか、このときの曲は感心させられる曲が多い。何でそんな歌詞かけるの！？っていうような。誰か一人に向けたメッセージ性のある歌詞がすごくいいと思う。こういう風にＣＤが売れても個人対個人として歌っている。「少年」の間奏の所がマキシシングルと違っているのも聴き所。笑えます。「月曜日の週末」のようにアップテンポの明るい曲もあれば「境界線」のように聴かせる曲もありバランスがいい。バラエティーにとんだ作品だと思います。
