正直に白状すると,学校の音楽の時間ってイマイチ好きになれなかった。それが初めて{面白い}って思ったのがこの曲,「チコタン」だった。今聴いても{合唱の面白さ}をよく伝えると思う。ただしチコタンが死んじゃう結末は,当時から賛否両論あったけど。

　２年前に知ったこの曲。かわいらしいテーマだけど、ぼくの大好きなチコタンの結末には思わず涙がでます。子どもたちに歌わせるとけっこう表現の勉強にもなります。絵本も昔出版されていたので絵本でよみながらきくと、子どもにもっとわかりやすかも。

７０年代に大阪で小学生だったら、１回は「チコタン」を耳にしているはず。
私も音楽の授業で初めて聞きました。最後の「アホー」の絶唱で大笑い。
でも一度聞いただけで確実に子どもの心をつかみます。こんな合唱曲はほかに知りません。

たしかに多くのサイトで言われるように「トラウマ」だの「暗黒」といった
ネガティブな感想を持つ子どももいたでしょう。
でもそれ以上にこの歌詞に感動していつまでも心に残っているという、
ポジティブにとらえている人も多いのです。
ホールに児童の合唱を聞きに来た大人に、涙を流させることができるパワーをもつ、
すばらしい曲です。
最後の「アホー」で、いい大人が目をうるませることができるのです。

この曲は１回聞いたきり、とかネットで歌詞を読んだだけ、では本当の良さはわかりません。
合唱曲ですから、何回も歌いこんで初めてそのすばらしさが胸に染みます。
あるいは合唱する機会がないのなら、何回も聞きこんでください。
「チコタン」を上っ面だけで評価しないでください。

他のサイトではこの曲を否定的に書いている人があまりにも多く、
私の小学生時代にはむしろ感動した子のほうが圧倒的に多かったので、
つい長々と書きたくなった次第です。

「チコタン」のＣＤを長年探していました。最初に聞いたのは、ＬＰで、たしか中学生の頃（？）だったと思います。曲と詩、特に関西弁との違和感の無いメロディーは当時感激し、詩の内容とも相まって、聞く度に感動（涙）していたことを思い出します。児童合唱にはたぶんふさわしくない、最後に「チコタン」が交通事故で死んでしまうという詩の内容からＣＤが少ないのだと思いますが、機会があればみなさんも是非聞いてみて下さい。
