現在、「クローバー」がヒット中のウクレレ派シンガー・ソングライター、つじあやののファースト・アルバムです。彼女は京都の出身で高校時代から鴨川のほとりで“鴨川ライヴ”と称してウクレレ片手の単独ライヴを敢行していたそう。フェイバリット・アーティストは金延幸子や大滝詠一、草野マサムネだそう。緩そうで実は芯の強そうなほわほわとした歌声で、なんとも悲しい恋心を歌っています。成就しない恋、それも男の子側からの切ない心情が主なテーマ。彼女の歌詞の中にいる“僕”から心優しい今時の男の子像が浮かび上がってきます。優しすぎて一人で、どんどんおセンチになってるような気もしますが、それは多分おじさんの感慨でしょう。これは彼女のファンタジーなのですから。「クローバー」で冴えた生ギターを聴かせる小倉博和をはじめ、斉藤誠など手練のオジサマたちが生楽器を活かしたアレンジでさりげなくバックアップしています。 (杉山達) --- 2000年04月号

微妙にエッジの取れた、柔らかいけれど芯のある声。そう。芯がある声だからこそ、柔らかなウクレレの音とぴったりなんですね。そして詞がいいです。「曇り空」がいちばんのお気に入りです。

彼女が使う、古くさい歌詞とシンプルなメロディーが絶妙にマッチして、私の思い出がギッシリ詰まったお気に入りの一曲です。「君への想い」もなんだかとっても切ない曲で、静かな夜にＢＧＭとして流しています。彼女が弾くウクレレが、ギターとはまたちょっと違う、不思議でゆっくりとした雰囲気をかもしだしています。

ストレスがたまっていた時期に３曲目のたんぽぽが聞きたくて買った。
つじあやのは曲も詞も声も人を癒すためにできているのではないかと
思わせるほど癒された。
がんばることは素晴らしいことだけど
がんばり過ぎることはばからしいことです。
