言うまでもなく「ストレンジャー」とは、決して奇妙な人とゆう意味ではない。
まだ来たばかりで、そこの土地にあまり詳しくない人のことである。

東京に出てきたばかりで、電車の乗り方すら分からない自分。
下手したら、駅から出ることすら出来なかったりする。

「早く東京の人になりたいな」と思う。
「でも、このややこしい街の使い方をすっかり覚えた頃には、それと同じだけの何かを、忘れてしまうんだろうな」と悩む。

これはつまり、そうゆうアルバムだ。
雑踏の中で、ふと立ち止まって、そんなことを考えている男の子のアルバムだ。

この春から全く知らない土地で、全く新しい生活を始めようという人全員に、僕はこのアルバムを捧げる。
こうゆう瞬間は、必ずやってくるから。


―君の声が聞きたいな

オートリバースにして

何度も、何度も―


でも、もう後には引けないことを、主人公は理解している。
この雑踏を引き返したって、もう君には会えない。
夏休みは、もう終わってしまったのだから。

ならばせめて、今日ここでさよならを言おう。
きっとまた会えるから。

ほのぼのした曲あり、ロックテイストありだけど、歌詞がとってもいいので、共感できます。くるりを知りたいのなら、ぜったいにはずせない一枚です。

くるりの１st。

今となっては「カメレオンバンド」なんて言われて、
アルバムリリースごとに新しい顔を見せてくれるくるりだけど、
このアルバムは「飾らない」「かっこつけない」等身大の彼らを見ているように感じる。
そして自分の若いころの悩み、迷い、泥臭さ、葛藤、卑屈さ・・・
そんなのまで思い出し、泣けてくる。

夢はあるけど、不安の方が大きい。
東京の広さにびびっちゃうけど、でもなんとかこの薄曇りの空の下で
頑張ろうという決意がヒシヒシと伝わる傑作です。
中でも【東京】は名曲。

【虹】の歌詞なんて、本当に味わい深い。
これを美しいと思える感性はいつまでも持ち続けていたいな。

ちなみに歌詞カードの写真たちも、
貧乏学生風な感じが非常に良いのであります。
地味だけど、聞いていてとても気持ちの良いアルバムです。
