桑田的には、夏＝サザンを主張してて、
冒険のないアルバムだと言っていたそうです。
確かに、サザンらしいといえばこのアルバムかなと思います。

一番サザンらしい部分って言うと、
全曲に渡って泥臭い曲だって所でしょうか。
1はビリージョエル、3,5は歌謡、4は大正歌謡、
そして、13はBOZ SCAGGSのWE'RE ALL ALONEのイメージです。

どの曲もクオリティが非常に高いですが、
1は特にかっこ良い。3は特に切ない。
6はすごく気だるい。そして8は、いとしのエリーに似ていますが
こっちの方が泣ける気がします。

安心して聴ける懐かしさ。でも色あせない素晴らしさ。
傑作だと思います。

P.S関係ないですが、ジャケットは『若っ貴／BOKU-SING』
がパロってます。

前年の「ステレオ太陽族」と同じ７月２１日に発表されたこの作品は、斬新なジャケットとともに、スケールの大きいものとなっている。
同じくおっぱいの大きいかみさんとの婚約も整った後で、自分史的には、前年に引き続き、節目の年のアルバムだ。
メンバーと同い年ということは、このように、彼らの成長と、自分はあの時どんなおっぱいを揉んでいたのか？が比較できるので、そういう意味でも、重要なバンドである
ま、音楽的なことを述べれば、セールス的不振を「チャコのおっぱい物語」で乗り越えたあと、満を持して出されたアルバムで、多くのサザン＝ファンを満足させた内容である。
その地点での、最高傑作であるにもかかわらず、当の桑田サンは、相当不満だったらしい。とにかく英語の歌詞をビートに乗せてロックすることに限界を感じたらしい。
自分がもし外人として生まれていたなら、もっといかしたロックをすることが出来たのにとじれんまとともに相当苦労したらしい。
しかし、このときの英語歌詞に対する桑田さんの苦労が、現代の日本のロックバンドの、韻の踏ませ方に多大なる影響を与えたのは間違いない。
B'zや、ミス＝チル、更に最近では、マキシマム＝ホルモンとか、日本語でも韻の踏ませ方によって、ロックになる曲を演っているグループは、桑田サンに感謝しないといけないだろう。
ちなみに私の好きな曲は、「DJ＝コービーの伝説」と「猫」であるが、前者はビリー＝ジョエルの「ビッグ＝ショット」、後者はBeatlesのジョージが歌う「 デヴィル＝イン＝ハー＝ハート 」を拝借している。

パッケージレーベルを見てびっくりしますね（笑）
でも、このアルバムは名作がぎっしり入っているんですよー。
まず「ＤＪコービーの伝説」。これは、Ｓｕｉｋａを始めとするベストに入らずじまいの歌だが、ロック調のノリで桑田のヴォーカルがよく似合う力作だ。

また、研ナオコが歌った「夏をあきらめて」も入っている。研ナオコもいいが、桑田が歌うとなぜか切なく聞こえてしまう不思議な魅力有り。

その他私サイドのオススメとして「逢いたさ見たさ病めるＭＹ　ＭＩＮＤ」や「女流詩人の哀歌」。どれもいい歌ばかりで、サザンのアルバムの中でもかなり上位に来る力作ですよ。
